Trading days in London
Looking back on our trading days in London, we had so many little precious moments and small traditions that meant so much to us. I constantly revisit those moments in my mind, again and again.
When we started driving to London every weekend, we created a ritual where we stopped at the service station halfway to get coffee and a croissant each time. I looked forward to that treat every week, but we had to be speedy – we only had about 10 minutes before we had to be back on the road, and we were running late; there was no stopping at all!
After arriving at Covent Garden and unloading, Luke would move the car near Parliament (free parking) while I would start setting up. After parking our blue Skoda, he would walk back and help me. As soon as we had everything set and ready for the trade, we would walk to the nearest Greggs next to Somerset House for breakfast – that was one of the most exciting moments of the entire day! We would stock up on soup, coffees and pasties – anything we could get our hands on!
While we were trading, there was no time to sit and eat. We were busy selling. Around 6:30 pm, we would close up our stand and start walking to the car. That was when we would share ideas, dreams, plans for the future and how to get there. I swear we came up with so many amazing ideas on our way back to that car park! We were shattered, but the excitement for Valentte kept us going.
